The ₹41,000+ Cr Cabinet Boost: Sports, Solar & Farmers

The Union Cabinet has approved three major initiatives designed to bolster India’s sports ecosystem, expand renewable energy capacity, and strengthen social safety nets for farmers.

To elevate national athletic performance, the Cabinet allocated ₹36,441 crore (2026–27 to 2030–31) to a revamped Khelo India Scheme and National Sports Federations. This framework creates a seamless pathway from grassroots talent identification to Olympic-level preparation through an integrated network of National Centres of Excellence, accredited academies, and school sports programs.

In clean energy, the new Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) commits ₹5,070 crore to build 5,000 MW of floating solar photovoltaic capacity over five years, driving innovation in energy storage and domestic solar manufacturing.

Finally, the Cabinet extended the PM-Kisan scheme, re-affirming direct financial assistance to farmers to secure rural livelihoods and promote sustainable agriculture. Together, these decisions reflect a holistic development strategy targeting youth empowerment, clean energy transition, and agrarian growth.
